Widford School is an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. All applications will be treated on merit and in a sensitive manner. The only restriction we place on entry is that of number. The standard number for our school is 8 pupils per year group.
I am delighted to welcome you to the Widford School website. I joined the school as Headteacher in September 2018. We are small village primary school at the heart of the community in Widford, close to Ware in Hertfordshire.
We have happy, friendly and well behaved children who are enthusiastic about their learning. Our caring, dedicated staff work hard to help every child become the best that they can be. The small class sizes and high adult child ratios enable learning to be personalised to the needs of each child, ensuring they make good progress. Our curriculum also supports children to develop their personal, social and emotional skills so that they can become life-long learners and are well prepared for their future. All ages of children enjoy mixing together and helping one another which makes our school a very special place to be.
Part of the school is still housed in the Victorian School building and we have beautiful and extensive grounds where children can play, learn and explore together. Although Widford School has a long history, the staff and Governors are very forward thinking and are constantly striving to improve the opportunities and learning experiences for our children.
We welcome children from Widford and the surrounding villages as well as from towns and villages which are further afield. Children can join our school from age 2 ½ and we offer part time sessions for these younger children and 30 hours funded places for Nursery age children. We work closely with parents to help them support their child’s learning journey at every step.
I hope that this website will provide you with the information that you need and that you will be able to visit our school to find out about more about us.

We are a village school, with around 60 pupils on roll. Every single child is valued and helped to achieve his or her full potential both academically and in terms of social and emotional development.
